Character Design - Assignment 3: Protagonist
Here's my protagonist, based off my pet rat Nickel. Nickel was a rescue rat, destined to be snake food, but he was saved by Little Friends Rescue in Ontario and then adopted by us. He is a strange choice of protagonist because he is really mean to our other rat Chippy, but in my head it is just to protect his little brother, Rush (who you'll meet in assignment 4!) Here is Nickel: #rats #assignment #characterdesign #sheridan

Life Drawing: Hands and Feet Portfolio
I wanted my hands and feet portfolio to look like some sort of observational journal. Handwriting all the notes took me a bit longer than I'd anticipated, but I am happy with the results! I also think it's neat to see the stack of original artwork so here it is: #assignment #lifedrawing #hands #feet #sheridan

Painting - Assignment 2: Grey to Colour
Top: Flat value Middle: Gradient value Bottom: Gradient with single colour added The idea with this painting was to create something new from several reference photographs. I decided to create my scene based off of the town where I grew up: Delta, BC. I had some pictures on my own camera of the area, if interested you can see a selection of them below along with my pre-planning sketches. #painting #gouache #assignment #sheridan

Layout - Assignment 2: Camera Angles
For this, we explored the environment created in the first assignment a bit further. We had some loose guidelines on which types of shot to use and went from there. #layout #assignment #sheridan

Character Design - Assignment 2: Antagonist
Front, profile, and back pose of an antagonistic character. This is the first in a series of three assignments in which we had to create an antagonist, protagonist, and comedy relief character. For my first, I chose to turn my pet rat Chippy (pictured below) into an antagonist. Chippy was born with one eye and is a bit of a bully to our other rats, we actually have to keep him separate from the others because he is a grouchy old man and refuses to get along. :( He ADORES peo

Character Design - Assignment 1: Rotation
I built this character using animation paper and light tables, creating him over and again probably about 3 times until I was happy with him. As the semester went on I had less time to be so meticulous, but I think it really showed in this assignment, I'm pretty happy with this guy! And here are a couple of drawings we were asked to do in class: We had to draw our own characters, then draw what a baby character might look like if there were a pairing of our character and one

Painting - Assignment 1: Rendering Form
My final gouache painting for my form rendering assignment - I was pretty happy with the Rembrandt effect I'd achieved in the backgrounds! #painting #gouache #assignment #sheridan

Layout - Assignment 1: Character in Perspective
For our first assignment in layout we had to create an environment for one of our characters. The character I created was based off of a friend (shout out to Brendan) and I decided to put him in an IT Crowd-inspired back room, resting against some servers while drinking chocolate milk. We were encouraged to add some loose lighting from a single light source! #layout #character #perspective #assignment #sheridan
